When it comes to traditional breakfast and lunch fare, Sasha’s Bistro and Bakery in the heart of downtown Marietta takes classic dishes and adds a personal, yet delicious twist.
Organic food is an ever-growing trend in today’s society, and Sasha’s caters to providing just that without draining your wallet.
While organic food is preferred among many people today, it’s not exactly cheap sometimes. The menu was extensive with plenty of choices for just about every palette, and excitingly affordable.
While Sasha’s is a sit-down diner, the guest places the order and pays at the counter. Some people enjoy the personal and relaxing aspect of having an actual server at the table, but the lack of the full service experience does not hinder the quality of the experience at Sasha’s. The man who took the order was very friendly and accommodating, and brought the entrée to the table. Considering many business people are going to stop into such an easily accessible restaurant for downtown workers, this type of service may be preferable.
The menu offers a homemade Quiche of the Day along with a Soup of the Day. This was nice to hear, seeing as though very few places serve homemade quiche.
Breakfast offers many simple and filling options, and the lunch menu offers a variety of sandwiches and salads. The atmosphere is fun and old-fashioned. Sasha’s relives the ‘50s era with red and chrome seating and tables, antique mixers and cooking utensils on the walls, pictures of famous celebrities from the time period and classic music such as old swing, blues and rock ‘n’ roll. Stepping into Sasha’s diner is truly like stepping into a ‘50s time warp—a classic décor for a classic menu. It was a bit cold in the building, but not unbearable.
The Panini Grilled Cheese was a tasty choice for lunch. The sandwich consists of Provolone, Swiss, sliced tomatoes, avocados, and peppered bacon all on a toasted baguette. Again-- a personal addition to a classic sandwich. It wasn’t cut diagonally and de-crusted like mom’s grilled cheese, but was still delicious. The avocado was a fantastic addition. It was creamy and buttery, and made for a great condiment substitute.
The Fiesta Salad will be on the list for the next visit. The creamy salsa dressing paired with blue corn chips, cumin ground beef, black Beans, romaine, cheddar, tomatoes and jalapenos sounds like a nice end of summer salad.
The mango raspberry iced tea was a refreshing choice to accompany lunch. The only downside to the experience was that the broccoli salad was a bit too salty. Maybe a coleslaw dressing would be a nice addition to cut out some of the salt.
Sasha’s also offers many flavored coffees and lattes as a dessert, a homemade brownie or gelato--the perfect portion and a sweet ending to a great breakfast or lunch.
The experience was fun and relaxing. Sasha’s Bistro and Bakery will soon be closing for breakfast (but keeping the breakfast menu items on the lunch menu) and opening for dinner. Contact 740-373-9080 or “like” Sasha’s on Facebook to discover their new hours and upcoming menu items.
