The end of summer horror movie is "Shark Night 3-D," a movie promoting Shark week and one to bring the summer fun to an end. A movie that from outside perspective resembles the movie "Piranha 3-D."
The major difference between the two really is that "Piranha 3-D" is a movie more based on a adult film with a lot of nudity. "Shark Night 3-D," is rated PG-13 which is a lot better than "Piranha 3-D" being that it focuses more on what is viewable to a lot more audiences.
"Shark Night 3-D" introduces us to eight teenagers, starring Sara Paxton brings her friends Beth, (Katherine Mcphee from American Idol) Nick, (Dustin Milligan) who is a pre-med student that crushes on Sara, Gordon (Joel David Moore) is the comedy relief, Blake (Chris Zylka) the jock, Malik (Sinqua Walls) star football player, and Malik's girlfriend Mya (Alyssa Diaz) To stay with her at her lake house on an island of the Louisiana Bayou.
Of course, with any horror movie, this lake house has no way to contact the outside world. with that context the audience could just assume what the rest of the movie would end up being like.
The teens expected to have a fun free weekend away from Tulane University's exams but things instantly go wrong. The first attack happen. After the teens try to a make a rescue, a chain of attacks happen. The bad guys in this movie are Carl (Jimmy Lee Jr.) and Dennis (Chris Carmack) who at one time had a relationship with Sara, and the on duty beer drinker sheriff (Donal Logue).
The director of this movie David R. Ellis had also created, "Snakes on a plane," "Final Destination 2," and "The Final Destination." After seeing all other movies that Mr. Ellis had created there is a vague resemblance with the makings of all these movies.
"Shark Night 3-D" was considered a B rated movie, but it should rate closer to a C. The 3-D part of the movie was not really worth it because of the few scenes that really benefitted from the 3-D. The movie itself was a decent movie, it would have been much better if the graphics were more realistic.
This type of movie would be really fun in a setting of a group of friends just to have a good time but not worth paying for, plan a fun night with your friends to enjoy Shark Night 3-D, and wander different types of sharks are doing in a lake not in the ocean.
Currently in theaters; "Apollo 18," "Columbiana," "Conan the Barbarian 3D," "The Debt," "Dont Be Afraid of the Dark," "Fright Night 3D," "The Help," "One Day," "Our Idiot Brother," "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," "Smurfs" and "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World."
New to DVD; "Prom," "Hanna," 5th Quarter," "Everything Must Go," "The Perfect Host" and "Skateland."
