One descriptor for “spirit” is a person’s level of self-esteem, self-confidence and overall being either at odds or at peace with who he/she is at the present moment. When a person’s spirit is not at peace, it often manifests itself in feelings of discontent, agitation or anger, resentment, and in some cases hopelessness and openness to self-destructive types of behavior of varying degrees.
Determining how one is experiencing balance of “mind” can often be gauged by an individual’s self-talk; those conversations that one has with oneself within the privacy of our thoughts. When one’s spirit is at unrest, one’s thoughts tend to lean heavily towards being negative, critical, demeaning, and often times undermining a basic desire to experience true happiness and to feel at peace.
When your spirit is in a state of unrest and your mind is focused on thoughts that are negative, self-defeating and generally critical and unkind towards yourself, your body will often exhibit signs of this internal imbalance. When your body is out of balance, you are more prone to incur illness and/or injury.
Attaining and maintaining a balance of your spirit-mind-body comes from the act of consciously making a decision to pursue healing and good health in these aspects of your life. Many times individuals want to change but do not know how and some “know” what to do however they need help getting into the action phase. There is help for those who fall into either of these two descriptions. If you are willing to accept help, then I would encourage you to stop by my office so that together we can work towards developing your personal plan of action to achieve and sustain a balanced life style.
PEACE!
