Many came out to eat some food, have some fun, and celebrate Constitution Day when the Student Engagement Activities Committee provided the school with an All-American Cookout on Sept. 21. They served hamburgers and hot dogs, handed out pocket constitutions, and set up four inflatables for the students to play on. Mayor Bob Newell started the event off by giving a speech about the constitution.

"What we like to do is put on events for the students and since we are a community college, we try to get everyone as active as we can in the college." Cassandra Mills, a member of SEA, said, "We have the inflatables that we can joust on, bungee jump and all that jazz."
Jonathan Keife, President of the SEA, explains that they are here to give students something to do other than just coming out for class, and then leaving. SEA encourages students to get involved, give them a reason to stay here, gives it more of a big university feel and help everyone enjoy their time here.
"It's called Engagement Hour and we want students to engage with each other," Keife said. He goes on to explain that when he first started coming to WVU Parkersburg, the only thing he attended was his classes, and he doesn't want it to be like that for anyone else.
"I didn't know anyone so I would just leave. Then I got involved with SEA and next thing you know, I become President, receive free tuition, and pretty much know everyone at the school because of this job," he said.
The SEA enjoys bringing the fun and food to the college and believes that it is their job to give back to the students.
"We appreciate the students coming out here, taking their time to further their education and while they're doing that, we like to make it a little more comfortable for them," Keife said.
